I agree that better informed patients have better clinical outcomes, then those who do not. I think it is a goal for our medical community to provide educational tools for their patients, and as such can be collaborators in their own health development.

I think that currently clinical guidlines and best practices are fashioned for the physician and not the patient. So if these products were tailored to patients, their health care expectations and disease management would be greatly improved.

I think an interactive personal health record as described by Dr. Zeiger, producing patient education in their health management, including some clinical guidelines and clinical decision support could easily be accomplished.
