In a landmark credentialing case, on May 26, 2006 a jury ruled in favor of Kadlec Medical Center Richland, WA and its insurance company on four counts of intentional and negligent misrepresentation and awarded a total of $8.2 millon dollars.
In May 2005 the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana held that hospitals have a duty to disclose information about their medical staff members to other health care providers in order to protect future patients when the doctor moves on. Kadlec Med. Ctr. v. Lakeview Anesthesia Assoc., No. Civ.A. 04-0997 (E.D.La. May 19, 2005).
